Promoting Community Cohesion

UCTC works at many levels to promote community cohesion. This section aims to outline the many and varied ways that this is taking place. We see this as integral to our work and believe that it improves the wellbeing of our students.
How does society interpret the term "Community Cohesion"?
By community cohesion we mean working towards a society in which:
- There is a common vision and sense of belonging by all communities
- The diversity of people’s backgrounds and circumstances is appreciated and valued
- Similar life opportunities are available to all
- Strong and positive relationships exist and continue to be developed within the school and the wider community
How do we work towards achieving this vision?
Promoting Community Cohesion
- We take part in and promote the work of the Uckfield Local Partnership for Children.
- We work in partnership with a wide range of external agencies to support students and their families – for example social services
- We work very closely with our partner primary schools
- We have links with schools in Europe and Africa
- Our students are concerned for the needs of others and raise money for charity
- Through our carnival group Spiritus, students have the opportunity to take part in local, national and international events
- We have links with local business and charitable organizations
- Students can learn through a wide range of curricular and extra curricular activities
- UCTC recognises that learning is a lifelong process, and is part of ACRES (Adult College for Rural East Sussex)
