Christmas Indulgence!

Puppet "child" will open a massive and impressive Christmas Craft fair in Uckfield later this month.

'Brook' the puppet is part of a national project building up to coincide with the 2012 London Olympics. Uckfield Community Technology College is the only school in the country directly involved with the Imagination our Nation project.
The project is being run by London-based Kinetika, who hope to win official backing from the organisers of the London Games.

Imagination Our Nation sees the nation through the eyes of children.

Brook is one of 17 puppets who is now spreading the story through the nation. At the moment "she" is about 4ft tall but will grow next spring into a teenager and by 2012 will be 16 feet tall. She is operated by four young people who are members of the well known local carnival group 'Spiritus'. 'Brook' was named at the Nutley Summer fete.

The Fair, at the college in Downsview Crescent, has been named a ‘Christmas Indulgence’ and is open on the 28th of November, from 2pm to 7pm.
More than 40 stalls have been lined up, many of them run by professional artists from the Uckfield area.

Organiser Clare Summons, the college’s Director of Creativity and Community Learning, said: "The whole idea is to promote local creativity rather than bringing in people from far and wide. We are trying to make our students aware that there is this incredible group of creative people right here in our own community"

Some of the highlights are:
• Mrs Christmas, baking on a London Routemaster double-decker bus – Father Christmas will also be onboard;
• Wilderness Wood, from Hadlow Down, selling Christmas trees and other seasonal items;
• A family photography studio – For only £10.00 book a sitting, ring the school office on 01825 764844.
• Stalls hosted by a range of professional artists
• Animal attractions,
• Catering by sixth form students, mince pies, coconut fancies and mulled wine,
• Year 7 children will also be hosting a range of innovative and unusual stalls, a chance to have a bit of fun.

All of this for the grand entry fee of £1.00 per adult, children free.
Every child who brings an adult to the Christmas Indulgence will be given a ticket for a draw in which the prize is a £130 iPod Nano.
All the money raised will go towards creative projects at the college.
The money will be held by the PTA and all decisions as to how the money is spent on creativity through out the college, benefiting all years , will be decided through the PTA.
